New Netgear partner program in the works

Networking vendor, Netgear, will implement a new channel partner program from July 1.
A/NZ managing director, Ryan Parker, said the program was all about making sure that partners, which address different parts of the market, were maximising benefits.
"We have a master PowerShift program which is the umbrella of our partner programs worldwide. In every country, each reseller has different requirements and networking plays a different part in each of their businesses," he said. "One of the biggest challenges we had when putting our partner program together was trying to make it meaningful to each segment of reseller that sells Netgear products."
Some common offerings the program will provide partners with include tailored training and lead generation, product information, access to a dedicated account manager, co-op programs and not-for-resale demonstration equipment. The vendor is also expanding its Web-based, instructor-led training and will be announcing a new schedule once the program has been rolled out.
Parker said there was no blanket solution for each reseller that sells Netgear product. For example, mum and dad type-resellers that worked out of a small office had different requirements to those of an Alphawest.
"We have partners that are vertically aligned in places like government and education, so the partner program for them is slightly different from somebody that works with SMBs, because they have different technology requirements," he said.
Locally, the vendor had about 3300 resellers, chairman and CEO, Patrick Lo, said.
"The most important thing is training these partners, providing support and lead generation towards their specific group of customers," he said.
