Virtualisation and unified communications are looking to shore up their positions as major IT influencers and will top the technology charts in 2008, according to channel representatives. ARN has done some crystal ball gazing and asked a selection of representatives from vendors, distributors and resellers what they see as the dominant technologies and market drivers for the New Year.
Not surprisingly, virtualisation, which has dominated discussions and datacentres this year, is expected to continue its charge into businesses, both large and small. Customers are looking to improve operational efficiencies and consolidate existing infrastructure while accessing information anywhere and anytime.
These issues could also be the driving force behind a new breed of communication solutions, industry pundits suggest. According to the analysts, there's also a host of strategic technologies, planned and unexpected, which will impact the market next year.
