Trend Micro strengthens SMB team

Security vendor, Trend Micro, has made a raft of channel appointments within its SMB team.
Nelson Gallash and Vincent Carpenter have been brought on as partner managers, Sam Laverty has taken on the distribution manager position and Stephen West has been recruited as associate partner manager.
Newly appointed medium business marketing manager, Greg Boyle, said it had seen significant growth in its partner numbers during the past 12-18 months. It had 800 registered partners across ANZ in 2004 but that number had reached 2800 at the beginning of the year.
"We've experienced 40 per cent year-on-year growth," he said. "We've got a very strong team now. The people that have come on-board have a lot of experience and knowledge in the channel."
Boyle said it had split the focus of the SMB marketing team and expanded the role of its partner managers.
"We're really focusing on building up skills with some of our key partners and putting resources and tools in place to help them grow alongside us," he said.
Trend Micro currently has 65 staff across ANZ and Boyle said it was currently looking to fill another half dozen positions within technical, administration and operational roles. The vendor is also still searching for an SMB director.
