LAN Systems is looking for a new Cisco business manager after Tony Heywood announced plans to take up a sales position with systems integrator, ComputerCorp.
Heywood has accepted the newly created role of regional sales manager for the East Coast, taking charge of ComputerCorp's NSW, Victorian and Queensland operations. He starts with the ASX-listed company on June 12 and will work alongside Peter Cappendell, who heads up sales for central and western regions.
NSW state manager, Rick McWhinnie, said the new east coast role was part of a broader plan to grow the company's management teams across each state.
"We need somebody who can showcase our ability to service the enterprise and SMB market," McWhinnie said. "Tony has extensive experience in that area."
Heywood said he hadn't been actively looking to leave LAN, but found the opportunity to join ComputerCorp too good to resist.
"From a personal point of view, I am aspiring to a general manager's role. I wasn't able to see that future at LAN," he said. "Systems integration is something I determined as a long-term target 12 months ago."
Heywood said his first point of focus at ComputerCorp was developing national sales processes in conjunction with Cappendell.
"ComputerCorp has a huge opportunity to leverage what it's already doing nationally," he said. "A large percentage of the business is still in WA, so there's an opportunity to grow that across all states."
Heywood has been with LAN since 2003 as Cisco business manager. His resume also includes stints with Comindico and Optus.
