Epson has signed up POS specialist, Vantex Technology Distribution, in an attempt to grow its Business Systems channel reach. The distributor will carry the entire range of dot matrix, receipt and transaction printers.
Epson business unit manager, Craig Heckenberg, said Vantex was a large POS distributor with broad market reach.
"It is one of the largest in Asia-Pacific and has a wide spread of networking dealers that give it a lot of great strength in the market," he said. "The relationship also gives us the ability to expand into other market segments such as transport, warehousing and distribution. We have played in those areas but Vantex gives us greater coverage."
Other Epson distributors include Pos Pos, DH Technology and Unique Micro Design.
Vantex managing director, Matt Maley, said the Epson range fitted nicely with its product mix, which also featured other retail hardware solutions such as computer terminals, integrated touch screens and barcode scanners.
"We are very excited to be an appointed Epson distributor and we are looking forward to pushing the product even further," he said. "Epson has also got niche solution printers that are suitable for passport printing. We will look at expanding into some of those areas."
Maley said suitable resellers for the range include those that currently dealt with both large or small retailers as well as systems integrators. He said dealers would be provided with access to product information, support and technical advice.
"It's not just about box moving. It is also about helping users understand the technology and its applications," Maley said.
