VST explores local options

Hong Kong hardware distributor, VST Computers, is currently investigating options to enter the Australian market.
Company representative, Elsa Wong, confirmed it had been involved in discussions with several parties about establishing a local presence.
"VST has talked to a couple of potential candidates to see if we have expansion opportunities in Australia," she said in an email.
"We don't have any solid plans yet." ARN sources claimed VST had already approached former eSys Integrated general manager, George Skaf, about heading up its local office some months ago. Skaf confirmed he met with the distributor to discuss options but insisted he was unaware of its current plans.
VST's vendor line-up includes Seagate, Western Digital, AMD, Lexar, Corsair and ASRock. The distributor, which is listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, has several branches in China as well as New Zealand. It also opened subsidiaries in Malaysia and Singapore late last year off the back of its relationship with Seagate. In its most recent financial report, VST said it was committed to expanding further within the region.
"VST's three-year goal is to be one of the three leading IT distributors in the Asia-Pacific region and, building on its expertise in China, the opening of operations in Singapore and Malaysia is an important step in achieving this," the company said.
