Brightpoint gets into Unwired ranks

Brightpoint has added Unwired broadband modems, PC cards and starter kits to its portfolio. Managing director, Felix Wong, said the partnership strengthened its offering in the wireless broadband market.
"Several months ago, Unwired reviewed the market in search of the right distribution partner," he said. "Brightpoint was chosen because of its focus on wireless. We have the size to grow the business."
Brightpoint also distributes BigPond wireless products but Wong said the new deal would not affect this relationship. "BigPond Wireless has coverage across most of Australia with higher speeds in cities and lower speeds in remote areas. Unwired covers Sydney and Melbourne," he said.
Wong plans to set up a new authorised dealer network for Unwired. He said interested dealers would need to undergo training and accreditation.
"Any reseller that currently sells or provides help with Internet and routers for SMBs or large businesses will suit the range," he said.
Brightpoint joins Tecksel in the Unwired ranks. Unwired general sales manager, Richard Singh, said appointing another distributor was a logical step and Brightpoint was an ideal fit.
"It has a comprehensive national network of retailers. That positions us well for when we expand our services to other parts of Australia," he said.
