Unwired and Harris get hitched on small business

Setting its sights on the SMB space, Unwired has launched three new online business services and struck a partnership with Harris Technology. The deal will boost its retail store presence to 150 locations.
The new services, uFax and uSMS, will be provided by Newsnet. uFax allows Unwired customers to send and receive faxes over its network on a dedicated phone number. They can also send SMS messages to any phone number worldwide as well as send text-to-voice messages to national phone numbers using uSMS.
The services will be offered to existing customers as a 30-day trial for $3. Customers who then wish to keep the service will be charged $10 per month. Additional fees will apply for outgoing fax, SMS and text messages.
"The launch of these new SMB-focused services and our partnership with Harris Technology go hand-in-hand with each other," Unwired general manager of sales, Richard Singh, said.
Harris Technology joins Unwired's long list of partnered retailers, including Dick Smith Powerhouse, Harvey Norman and Domain.
"While our current retailers have consumer markets, our product is starting to gain broader appeal. Harris Technology is perfect from a strategic and complementary perspective because they focus more on the business market," Singh said.
From the end of February, Unwired will sell its Wireless Card and Modem products through Harris Technology's online store and five of its eight store locations in Hawthorne, North Sydney, Alexandria, Ryde and Parramatta.
