Hostworks picks up plum realestate

Hostworks has secured a three-year outsourcing contract to deliver monitoring and network support services to's worldwide offices.

Sales and marketing director, Klaus Bartosch, said the relationship was an extension of its original contract with the online company to provide ad serving tools. Under the latest deal, Hostworks will be in charge of 24 x 7 support for's 200 Web servers in Australian and the UK.

"We have replaced a number of facilities that were being fulfilled by internal people," he said. "Providing 24 x 7 was proving challenging and costly for We have been able to provide a more economic way to deliver these services globally."

Alongside support, Hostworks was delivering more sophisticated systems monitoring tools via products such as Avocent and NetIQ, Bartosch said.

He would not disclose the financial details of the contract, but claimed it had the potential be a substantial deal. What was most significant, was that it was Hostworks' first global managed services win.

Historically, the level of technology available and costs incurred to provide datalink services away from its data centre operations in Adelaide and Sydney had restricted Hostwork's ability to go global, Bartosch said.

Overall improvements in technology were now making this possible.

"We are a critical managed services provider. Delivering our services in other locations quickly and easily is an important leap in our business," he said. "It means we can provide infrastructure no matter where the customer is.

"This deal proves we can provide our services anywhere."
