ToughCorp gets rugged with new distie deals

NSW-based hardware distributor, ToughCorp, has added Motorola and US rugged handheld vendor, Tripod Data Systems (TDS), to its products portfolio.
Director, Tony Troth, said Motorola had been experiencing very limited sales with their ruggedised laptop products and had gone on the hunt for a distributor in A/NZ with experience in that field.
"We already distribute rugged tablet PCs from Xplore Technologies, so this is a very exciting deal for us," he said.
ToughCorp will now distribute Motorola's ML 900 range. Troth said he hoped to expand the partnership to include the vendor's upcoming rugged handheld suite.
TDS produces Windows-based rugged handhelds for industrial and outdoor users.
Troth said ToughCorp previously had limited access to the range. The company also had not maintained an official distributor in the region.
"It became logistically difficult for TDS to build and grow amongst partners. They initiated a search for a distributor and selected us," he said.
Tough will include the whole TDS range.
Troth said it was also looking into including its GIS software applications.
Currently, Tough has about 60 resellers.
Troth said he wanted to bring on more that specialised in the ruggedised arena, which dabbled in the mining, defence, utilities and manufacturing sector.
