Eureka to broaden appeal with FirmTek

Storage distributor, Eureka Pacific, has struck a deal with US-based FirmTek to carry its eSATA range.
Eureka managing director, Alexei Mazin, said it had been searching for a storage range suited to the SMB market.
"What we currently offer with Ciprico is a high-end solution," he said. "We see a demand in the market for smaller storage solutions from businesses that don't have big budgets and want something easier to use."
FirmTek's flagship product is the SeriTek drive, which contains serial ATA interfaces and external enclosures that feature hot-swap capability.
Mazin predicted the new range would directly compete with LaCie eSATA products. Eureka would now look to appoint more SMB dealers.
"Our current resellers primarily have a high-end focus on the content creation and video market," Mazin said.
FirmTek business division vice-president, Chi Kim Stanford, said Eureka's strong storage background and national presence made it an ideal partner.
"With local product availability and support, we believe Eureka will help broaden our market presence," she said. "As our business grows, we will continue to look for more specialised regional distributors."
Stanford highlighted the multimedia and game development markets as growth areas.
