WebMethods skills up channel

Looking to build up the technical capabilities of its channel, business integration software vendor, Webmethods, has launched a new partner certification program.

The vendor typically sold its software direct, but largely relied on partners to provide ongoing support, A/NZ managing director, Paul Henaghan, said. Its newly-released channel certification would simplify a customer's search for Webmethods-qualified support, he said.

"The program means we will be able to sell our software to a customer and then provide an up-to-date list of accredited partners who can provide service and support," Henaghan said.

Training would be largely conducted online. Channel partners could spend anywhere from a fortnight to three months in study for its accreditation, depending on the level and proficiency it sought to achieve, he said.

Existing local Webmethods approved partners are Anatas, HubCo, Customware Asia Pacific, Ness Technologies, Vanguard Integration, Wipro Technologies, Tata Consulting Services and GXS.

More partners were being courted, Henaghan said, with two further names about to be announced.

Webmethods also planned to open some of its Australian software sales to an indirect model, although Henaghan said about 80 per cent of its transactions would remain direct.

A typical Webmethods software sale ran easily into six figures, Henaghan said, before any ongoing services were factored on top.
