Alphawest appointed to QLD panel

Alphawest Services has joined a list of preferred Web content management and electronic document and records management suppliers under the Queensland Government's Shared Service Initiative (SSI).
The integrator got the nod to sit on a panel of vendors that can deliver the solutions to government departments following a lengthy tender process, according to Alphawest strategic business development manager of information management, Eddie Parker.
The SSI is an initiative to evaluate IT service providers and create a central pool of talent to enable Queensland government departments to select such businesses without having to conduct extensive evaluations.
"For us, it's quite a significant thing to be part of," Parker said. "It doesn't guarantee work but it does give us a ticket to the program."
Parker said being part of the SSI for the past month had already helped Alphawest to uncover at least two projects for which it was currently tendering.
There were at least a dozen government agencies currently planning Web content management and electronic document and records management implementations, he said. They could also be potential wins.
