Former StorageTek boss joins Radware

Radware has installed industry veteran, Philip Belcher, as its new general manager for A/NZ. He replaces Yossi Vardi, who has moved into a role focused on developing the telco and service provider markets throughout Asia-Pacific.

Belcher said his appointment coincided with a local market expansion push for the switch vendor. He had already been tasked, for example, with growing staff numbers in NSW and Victoria.

Part of the expansion will also see Belcher attempting to grow its base of professional service partners.

"We have two basic streams of channel partners - systems integrators and professional service partners. The latter is made up of application designers, systems designers and other consultants," Belcher said. "We already deal with some of these organisations but want to build our influence in that area.""

Belcher said prospective partners would need a high level of technical knowledge around applications and systems design. Radware is planning a string of information sessions later in the year.

The vendor also plans to open a Canberra office to capitalise on existing ACT-based clients and press further into Federal Government and Defence. However, Belcher indicated this was unlikely to happen before Q4.

Belcher was the local managing director of StorageTek before it was acquired by Sun Microsystems. He has worked in the industry since 1972.
