Viruses have been kind to Grisoft´s Melbourne-based security distributor Avalanche Technology Group which has grown its AVG antivirus reseller base by over 500 per cent in the past year.
Avalanche was officially appointed as Grisoft's AV distributor in April last year, but had been distributing the company's products well before then.
Since January 2005, Avalanche has grown its reseller numbers from 70 to 450, said Peter Cameron, business development director at Avalanche.
The company distributes the entire range of Grisoft AV products including AVG Professional Single Edition; AVG SoHo Edition (for up to 5 workstations); AVG plus Firewall Edition; AVG Network Edition (for small to large businesses), as well as AVG's various email server products.
Cameron said the Professional Single Edition, SoHo and network versions have been a stand-outs based on the low cost to purchase. For example, a Professional version with a two-year license costs $52.95, while a SoHo package for up to five people costs $149.95 over two years.
As part of an effort to further boost sales in the channel, the company today launched a promotion for the AVG Professional Single Edition and AVG plus Firewall Edition. It is offering resellers ten boxes for the price of nine.
Cameron said it was the first of many marketing strategies to best get the product out to resellers and the wider marketplace.
"AVG is a hidden gem in the marketplace. We want to make it a well known and accepted product by consumers," he said.
