Express Online targets major systems vendor

Express Online is looking to add a handful of new brands to its stable during the next year, with a major systems vendor topping the wish list. General manager, Alison McQuarrie, said the distributor tried to work with three of the leading brands in each of its product categories.
With Acer and Apple already on its books, its most attractive targets would be HP or Lenovo.
Express Online has signed with five new vendors during the past 12 months - Apple, Iomega, Sandisk, Macromedia and Hitachi. McQuarrie predicted a similar number of additions in the year ahead.
"We will continue to build business with our current line-up but would like to add another systems vendor because we see growth in that market," she said.
"We are doing very well with software, networking and LCD products so we are quite comfortable with our offerings in these categories." Express Online has built a strong following with SMB resellers, particularly in regional areas, with about a third of its customers operating outside of state capitals.
McQuarrie also estimated 35 per cent of orders were placed outside of business hours.
"Ordering stock does not generate a profit so many of our customers choose to place orders between 6pm and 6am or over the weekend," she said.
As reported in ARN last week, Express Online enjoyed its best month ever in June, beating sales from the same month last year by more than 60 per cent.
McQuarrie estimated it had seen a 40 per cent jump in reseller applications during the past six months and now had a database of more than 6000 dealers. About half purchased every month.
"There are more resellers buying from us," she said.
"We have almost 50 per cent more active accounts than this time last year."
