Alcatel has announced a new addition to its family of data and voice mobility offerings.
The communications solutions provider has launched a range of wireless LAN (WLAN) products, designed to deliver comprehensive standards-based wired and wireless mobility solutions.
The product range, known as the Alcatel OmniAccess WLAN solution, will give users access to an unrestricted secure and mobile network.
Products include OmniAccess 1200 Access Points and OmniAccess 4000 wireless LAN switches and appliances.
The solution will integrate features such as location tracking, mobility, wireless protection and VPN concentration into a single platform, making deployment and operation easier and more cost-effective.
“This range is unique to the market because of its wireless protection and management,” said product manager for Alcatel’s Enterprise Solution activities in Australia, Simon Rachowski.
“It is well placed to serve markets like education, retail, manufacturing and healthcare.
“Of course, the products will be available to our channel partners,” said Rachowski. “It will give them the opportunity to broaden their offering with a wireless solution.”
Further supporting its WLAN convergence offering, Alcatel is also planning to ship its Mobile IP Touch 300 and 600 wireless phones later this year. The phones are designed to act as an extension of the Alcatel OmniPCX family of IP-PBXs.
The phones use the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 802.11b global standard to operate as client devices on a single wireless infrastructure.
