Compuware releases Vantage 9

Compuware Monday released Vantage 9, the latest version of its application performance monitoring software.

The software monitors applications from an end-user perspective rather than just keeping tabs on infrastructure components, according to a statement from the Detroit-based vendor. Vantage 9 is designed to help companies identify and resolve problems before they affect the business.

According to Compuware, the software will allow IT teams to view the scope of application service problems in terms of affected applications, locations, transactions and users, as well as the duration and frequency of problems, so that the problems can be prioritized according to their impact on the business.

New summary views highlight performance by application and location, while heat charts allow IT staff to identify service violations and application outages by time of day, day of the week and processes affected.

An "exception-based analysis" function measures network behavior throughout the course of a process or transaction, making it possible to capture a precise "transaction snapshot" when applications fail to work properly. That way, analysts can resolve issues more quickly by pinning down the actual cause, the company said.

"Vantage 9 not only identifies service problems but also provides deep insight into the interaction of the application with the underlying infrastructure components, allowing swift and definitive problem resolution," John Williams, Compuware's product line director, said in the statement.

Pricing for Vantage 9 begins at US$19,000.
