Specialist modem distributor hits the bauds

New modem distributor Tecksel says it couldn't have chosen a more interesting time to start trading. Director Niels Kofahl told ARN that an Australian V.34 modem had just broken the $300 barrier. "The Avtek MegaplusFax V.34 now has a retail price below $300, and if that isn't enough, the retail price of the external Askey Dynalink is $275 and the internal is now 33.6K."
While the name Tecksel is new, Niels and Mark Kofahl have been distributing for many years. "And now we have branches in Sydney and Melbourne, 1,800 tech support lines, Saturday dealer pick-up and overnight country-wide delivery," explained Kofahl. He added that Tecksel would be known both for its high level of technical support for resellers, unbiased expert advice, mixed brand price breaks and regular promotions and specials. Brands include Avtek, Banksia, Dynalink, Hayes, Motorola, NetComm, Spirit and US Robotics.
Andrew Phillips of Hayes said he was very pleased to see Tecksel in the market. "It's a rare phenomenon around the world to have a specialist modem distributor, but it fits the Australian market perfectly."
