Australasian Memory: Telesales beats feet on the street

Sydney-based distributor Austral-asian Memory has reorganised its regional offices, citing a changing channel as the reason behind the move. "We sell a lot of memory and there simply isn't enough margin in memory to support a sales force out knocking on resellers' doors," said general manager Max Fredericks. The company will now focus on telesales.
"We had a number of state managers, but under the new model the state offices will really only be bases for sales people working with the networking, storage and comms products," Fredericks said. He says the company is recruiting a 12-strong telesales team that will operate out of Sydney on a toll-free number: 1300 658 658.
Australasian Memory has recently taken on new product lines such as Digital networking and StorageTek, while some of its other lines, like Kingston Memory, are now being carried by other distributors.
