- 19 March, 1997 14:20
Maxtor develops, manufactures and markets information storage products for desktop and mobile computer systems. The company is a wholly owned, independently operated subsidiary of Hyundai Electronics America.
Maxtor's CrystalMax 1080 series of enhanced IDE hard disk drives, which have a top-end capacity of 4.3Gb, will begin shipping this month in Australia.
The 1080 series is claimed to deliver increased capacity and performance over the current range of CrystalMax drives. Seek times are less than 11ms.
Like its predecessor, the CrystalMax 1080 series is built on Maxtor's Formula4 thin-film head disk assembly. Areal density (number of bits per square inch) has been increased to 1080Mb. This series includes 4.3, 3.2 and 2.1Gb models.
The drives come with a three-year warranty and are backed by Maxtor's "No Quibble Service" policy. In the event of drive failure, Maxtor deals directly with clients so that the unit can be replaced promptly.
