Harris takes on Taylor to grow sales scope

Harris Technology has appointed Shayne Taylor to the newly created general manager of commercial sales post with the aim of boosting its IT sales and services profile.
Taylor previously held similar roles with both Volante and AMS. The new position will see him responsible for the nationwide management of Harris Technology’s corporate, business centre, telephone and Internet sales teams.
Harris managing director, David Foster, said Taylor’s appointment would help the company become the number one reseller in Australia.
He claimed the company was now in the top five resellers in the country.
As part of a restructure of the business in the last 18 months, Harris had decided to split the sales management role into two: one GM covering the government and education markets; the other to oversee commercial sales, Foster said.
The government and education business was currently being overseen by David Cannon, he said.
The appointment of Taylor to the commercial sales position reflected Harris’s national expansion and focus on that side of the business, Foster said.
Taylor’s core focus will be on expanding the company’s reach in both corporate and SMB markets, with an emphasis on selling its IT services capabilities.
Foster said Taylor’s appointment was affirmation of the company’s push to align its services offerings with the commercial sales business.
In April, the reseller told ARN it was building up its IT services capabilities, claiming it had partnered with several outsourcing service providers in an attempt to become a one-stop shop for customers.
This was followed in June by a call for customers to take part in a pilot program of its latest bundled IT product and services offering.
Foster declined to comment on the pilot, stating only that work on specific services initiatives continued.
He said Harris now maintained a full suite of services and partners.
