Distributor assures Quicken compliance for users

The local version of Quicken personal finance software is 100 per cent millennium-compliant according to Reckon Intuit, the Australian distributor of the software.
Greg Wilkinson, Reckon Intuit's managing director, said Reckon Intuit Australia acts autonomously, offers a localised product and initiates product developments locally.
He said recent reports relating to the charges that Intuit Inc had violated consumer protection laws through their failure to inform customers that some versions of its Quicken personal finance software are not fully prepared for the year 2000 changeover and had also failed to offer adequate remedies for the problem - had been misleading and confused its Australian users.
The company has been inundated with inquiries relating to the charges, Wilkinson said.
"Previous reports did not clarify that concerns were applicable to Intuit US only, and more specifically to their online banking features which are irrelevant to our Australian versions," said Wilkinson said.
