-- NEC Australia last week unveiled its VoiceOperator computer telephony integration (CTI) software for small to medium businesses (SMEs) with a view to capitalising on its already sizeable share of the PABX market.
An active voice response system, VoiceOperator is an icon-driven software solution that runs on Windows NT 4 and an NEC Express 5800 Series server that is linked directly to a PABX.
NEC claims VoiceOperator could be used for a number of applications such as 24-hour telephone-based ordering systems, ticket reservation, and telephone payment systems. The product can also be used to provide fax-back and audio-text, generate voice messages and transfer calls to other extensions.
VoiceOperator also comes with its own Developer's Kit that allows customers to customise their own interactive voice response requirements. Also available is VoiceOperator Runtime, a package developed for VARs, which includes Runtime software, an NEC Express 5800 110Pro/s server, Windows NT Workstation and a dialogue voice/fax board.
The Express 5800 110Pro/s server costs $16,213 while the VoiceOperator Development Kit is priced at $21,614.
