The winners and losers in Compaq's new management lineup

Compaq this week announced the next key stepping stone in the integration of Digital with the announcement of the company's new local management structure.

Several high-profile ex-Digital employees are missing from the new line-up, but Compaq's senior executives have not emerged completely unscathed either.

Paul Jones, who was Digital's marketing manager, and Paul O'Connor, previously Digital's channels' manager, are two noticeable absentees. According to a Compaq spokesperson, both were both offered positions in the combined entity, but declined.

No manager has been appointed specifically to a channel management role in the senior management team, but new general manager of business, Greg Healy, and channel development manager, Rosalie Boyd, will oversee the company's strategy in that arena.

As part of the reshuffle, Compaq's Moragh Blyth, will also lose her post as director of marketing communications and has instead been appointed to the newly-created position of director, Internet strategy and customer management.

The Compaq spokesperson told ARN that role will involve managing the local Web site and developing e-commerce strategies for channel partners - and potentially customers directly.

"At this stage, the site will not provide e-commerce for customers directly but looking at that strategy going forward will be part of Moragh's responsibility so that's a really key area for us," the spokesperson said.

The other key appointments announced this week were:
