Melbourne University has contracted to buy 20 licences of the Forte development tool to build administration applications that improve the flow of information and dependence on paper-based transactions.
Standout capabilities have been Forte's Web tools, the ability to handle images and the means to integrate old system functions with the new systems. An electronic in-tray which enables staff members to check their in-boxes with a Web browser's is one of the key new developments.
"This will ultimately change the entire authorisation process for purchasing, staff leave and anything else that needs to be signed," said Miri Goldenfarb, director of information systems development for the University of Melbourne.
