Adelaide based e-commerce solutions developer Camtech has announced a program for its resellers where e-tailers can display a "secured by Camtech" logo to reassure Internet shoppers about the security of buying online.
Camtech chief executive officer Bruce Linn said that with 60 resellers and now more than 400 merchants using its payment gateway software, the company was a well-recognised brand in the market.
"Concern about transmitting credit card details via the Internet remains a major deterrent to more consumers accepting Internet retailing. The only thing holding it back is the perception in the market that it is not safe," Linn said.
Camtech's e-commerce payment gateway is estimated to represent 60 per cent of the Australian market for credit card clearances from e-commerce Web sites.
Camtech clients include Travel.com.au, Greengrocer.-com.au and ChaosMusic, as well as major Australian banks such as Commonwealth, Westpac, National, BankWest and St George. The "Secured by Camtech" logo can be displayed on any web site that uses the Camtech e-commerce payment gateway solution.
Linn claimed the logo gives merchants the opportunity to leverage Camtech's reputation as a market leader in secure online payments. The company's reputation is growing in the overseas markets with an online trader going live recently in Kuala Lumpur and a US site expected to be up "in the next couple of months".
