Internet developer secures kudos for new Web solution

Internet applications developer Information Dynamics last week won the Intelligent Technologies category of the Queensland IT&T Awards for Excellence for the development of its handheld Internet security device, Identikey.

The Brisbane-based organisation beat nine other nominees, including Compaq, to win the award, which is designed to promote the development of the IT industry in the Asia-Pacific.

Identikey is a security solution that enables user access to restricted Web sites at varying levels of clearance using a simple handheld digital key. Users simply have to hold the key up to the screen of a PC in order to obtain access to the sites they are registered for.

According to Mark Kefford, managing director of Information Dynamics, one of the keys to Identikey's success was the fact that "it can be used on any PC with Internet and Web browser access, making it ideal for organisations with travelling employees or with regional/international offices or subsidiaries".

The award was presented to Information Dynamics because the Identikey offered an element of security in the ever- burgeoning arena of Internet use, event organisers said.
