Australian PC manufacturer Optima Computer Technology has announced it has been selected as preferred supplier to the NSW Police Service.
Yet according to OCT, if all goes well, its resellers will never see any of the two to three thousand systems expected to be supplied over a year.
OCT sales manager Darren Davis explained that although it is a direct supply arrangement with the Police, its "Authorised Service Provider" resellers will be called on to provide any required on-site warranty support.
"Part of the deal was to provide on-site warranty as well as the supply of desktops and associated peripherals," Davis said.
Optima's managing director, Cornel Ung, said: "The NSW Police Service has conducted a particularly thorough evaluation so it is very pleasing to have been selected as a preferred supplier. I believe Optima has been successful because we offer a very efficient and economical overall solution for supply and service of PCs. We have developed an extensive network of Authorised Service Providers throughout Australia and this allows us to provide an efficient on-site service to geographically diverse organisations such as the NSW Police Service."
According to Davis, Optima Computer Technology is already a well-established supplier of personal computers to NSW State Government departments. Its selection as a preferred supplier to the NSW Police Service reinforces its position as a major player in the NSW Government personal computer market.
