Alcatel and Vodafone have united in a partnership agreement that should soon see Alcatel's Intelligent Network (IN) technology embellish Vodafone services.
The strategic alliance names Alcatel as the key provider of IN technology to Vodafone, the third largest mobile operator in Australia.
"The partnership illustrates Alcatel's strategy to become the preferred supplier of communications needs in the Asia Pacific region," revealed Ron Spithill, Alcatel's president Asia Pacific, adding that "[Alcatel's]continued local investment in the development of IN technology shows that local support and expertise are paramount to the customer and to Alcatel."
Spithill also assured that the partnership with Vodafone opened a new era for Alcatel.
On the other end of the deal, Vodafone CEO Peter Abery is looking to benefit from "the specialist expertise of a global leader" to offer Vodafone's customers "a wider and more sophisticated range of services" and to grow its subscriber base in the region.
According to Alcatel officials Vodafone joins more than 200 Alcatel IN users operating in more than 30 countries. The benefits of Alcatel's IN platform are said to include management of added-value tailoredservices, as well as advanced charging and usage statistics. These and other features are expected to enhance Vodafone's current services such as PrePaid Mobile Solutions and Virtual Private Networks.
