United News & Media acquires CMP Media

United News & Media yesterday announced it has signed a "definitive agreement" to purchase US technology media company CMP Media for $US920 million, or $39 per share.
The deal will see CMP's publishing and Internet assets combined with the publishing and trade show businesses of United's subsidiary Miller Freeman under the CMP brand and management structure.
CMP publishes a number of titles including InformationWeek, Computer Reseller News and Electronic Engineering Times.
Other publishing companies such as IDG Communications considered acquiring CMP.
