Asian Yellow Pages on CD-ROM

IT product developers with an eye on Asian markets now have access to another business contact tool.
Two new CD-ROM directories called BizMap Navigator and Asia BIG have been released by Melbourne-based publisher Desktop Marketing Systems (DtMS).
Bizmap Navigator is based on the Singapore Yellow Pages, and is produced by Singapore Power and Singapore Telecom. It is claimed to contain the contact details of more than 280,000 Singapore businesses.
According to DtMS, it comes with a powerful search engine that helps users find contacts by company name, phone, fax or location quickly and easily, and a map guide with more than 23,000 address points.
Asia BIG is said to contain the listings from business guides for six Asian countries: Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
Business directories are clearly big business, it seems.
John Lavan, national sales manager for international directory specialist Kompass, said that databases such as these have value. However integrity and depth of the content is what he finds most customers want. Lavan added that Kompass includes information such as key execs, products and services branch offices and other useful company details.
If you just want a directory, though, BizMap Navigator costs $40 and Asia BIG costs $50.
