Leading outsourcer CSC has been awarded a $2.45 million, two-year contract by The Royal Australian Navy to manage data held by the Navy's fleet of mine hunting and sweeping vessels.
Under the terms of the Configuration Data Maintenance contract, CSC has assumed responsibility for the management of logistics, engineering and maintenance data on the Navy's six Huon Class coastal minehunters, two Bay Class inshore minehunters and five minehunter auxiliary vessels.
According to Commander Max York, the Navy's Class Logistics manager for Mine Warfare, the outsourcing contract was awarded due to the highly complex nature of the technology involved.
"In this instance, we sought to partner with a company with string defence domain knowledge and IT skills, capable of delivering the tier-one service we require," Commander York said.
