Lako Pacific has secured a deal to repackage and distribute consumer security software from local developer, PC Tools.
Lako managing director, Evan Kourambas, said it would initially stock the vendor's core products: malware and spyware removal software, Spyware Doctor; and Windows registry cleaner, Registry Mechanic Windows. It plans to package either the Privacy Guardian or Spam Monitor software now and expand its range next year.
"We need to get into areas that aren't always media and convergence related, which give underlying stability to our sales," Kourambas said. "PC Tools software fits with our existing utility product portfolio."
PC Tools general manager, Rafal Potega, said the new partnership was part of a global initiative to expand into retail channels.
Kourambas said it was now working to get the software on the shelves of larger retailers such as Harvey Norman and Dick Smith by the end of October.
