Andre Michau collected in Data General staff axing

Industry veteran Andre Michau is just one of the casualties of EMC's decision to sack over 50 people from its Australian subsidiary late last week.
In an e-mail sent to partners and industry friends, Michau said EMC decided to restructure Data General because its profits failed to meet expectations.
"Notwithstanding our relatively good profit performance in F/Y 99, Data General Pacific's projected profit performance is not in line with EMC's expectations for its subsidiaries. The restructuring has been carried out because of this," Michau said.
"The 'new' Data General Pacific organisation will meet EMC's profit expectations."
Michau said in the e-mail he has 90 days left with the company to "look after the interests of our partners".
"I wish to thank all of you for your help and support in the past -- and I look forward to working with you again when we meet up in the future," he said.
The decimation of Data General's Australian business follows EMC's $US1.1 billion acquisition of DG in August.
