FinancePlus Software has appointed Newcastle-based Complete Business Technologies (CBT) as a reseller of its accounting software for the Hunter region.
Resellers for the software are somewhat of an elite group; FinancePlus sales manager John Green said the company would rather deal with resellers who provide a one-stop shop solution as part of their value add.
"CBT fits in well with our business strategy. FinancePlus is a network product, so we want resellers that deal with accounting software, but also offer support, installation and networking solutions - it's a 50/50 relationship.
"We have trouble attracting quality resellers. The market is there, but it is not an off-the-shelf product. It is a steep learning curve for resellers to go through."
The software is channelled through five resellers in NSW, five in Victoria and one in South Australia.
"If one person offers the whole array, if something goes wrong they can solve the problem," Green said. "It is important that at the end of the day the customer is given solutions, not excuses."
CBT's client manager, Philip Barrington, explained that many accounting packages that run on networks cause headaches for customers.
"The dilemma with accounting software is that it is generally pretty sophisticated, so if anything goes wrong, you don't know whether it is a problem with the software or the hardware. We support both."
He said the FinancePlus software has a strong entrepreneurial side, including e-commerce and remote hosting.
CBT has been operating in the Newcastle region for 20 years. FinancePlus is one of three accounting packages that the company supports.
