Webber and HP swing by Sydney

The BMW Williams racing team and sponsors HP gave Sydney fans a sneak peak at the inner workings of its new FW27 car in the lead-up to the Melbourne F1 Grand Prix last week.

According to its technical director, Sam Michael, HP supercomputer technology was used to model new aerodynamic and structural characteristics for the car in order to optimise performance.

This included designing a virtual wind tunnel to develop solutions for front and rear wings, brake ducts and radiator ducts. Principal driver, Aussie Mark Webber, was on-hand to launch the technology at the Sydney Opera House.
