Electronic Arts, which claims to be the world's largest interactive entertainment software company, has announced the acquisition of multimedia developer Dream-Works Interactive (DWI), which will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Electronic Arts.
According to Steven Spielberg, whose vision is said to have led to the creation of DWI: "We have been extremely pleased with the working relationship that has developed over the past two years with Electronic Arts. EA brings world-class production processes, strong global distribution and an unmatched marketing infrastructure to add to DreamWorks Interactive's top-notch creative talent."
DWI was formed as a joint venture in March 1995 by Microsoft and DreamWorks SKG, and is known for top-selling PlayStation titles such as Jurassic Park: Lost World and the new release Medal of Honor.
