Compaq has launched a mass marketing consumer campaign designed to capture a larger share of the first-time buyer looking for trouble-free entry into PC technology and access to the Internet.
Under the marketing slogan "Making it Simple", Compaq is introducing free installation and training services for all current desktop PC and notebook models of the Presario range. The offer only applies to current models and is not offered on superseded stock, only current models.
Punters who fork out for new Compaq PCs and notebooks will be entitled to one hour of free support that will include computer setup, Internet installation and Windows-based training. A range of leading ISPs are contributing to free introductory Web access trials.
A service partner, Quicknowledge has been engaged to supply the value-adds with consumers needing to give them a call to book the service after purchase.
"Many customers want access the latest technology but lack either the knowledge or confidence to install a PC at home without some assistance," Ben O'Leary, Compaq's product manager, consumer division, said.
