TDK Mediactive Australia will end its direct distribution of gaming titles to the retail market from April, citing a lack of games from Europe.
This means new games such as Conan and Knights of the Temple, designed for all games platforms, will not be released in Australia.
TDK Mediactive Australia had sourced games from both TDK Mediactive USA and TDK Mediactive Europe. However, Take-Two Interactive's buy-out of TDK Mediactive USA late last year meant TDK Australia no longer had the rights to the US copy.
Both Conan and Knights of the Temple were produced in Europe, and would have been the only titles to come this way until at least Christmas, said TDK Mediactive Australia's Brett Campbell. "For just the two titles, there was no point," he said of the reason for discontinuing distribution.
It is unclear at this stage if TDK Europe will enlist the services of an independent Australian distributor.
