Australian ISP Oz-Net obviously wasn't asleep during OzEmail's hugely successful float on the NASDAQ exchange recently. The company is now actively looking to boost its coffers to fund further growth, and there is around a 50 per cent chance that it will list on NASDAQ within the next six to twelve months, said Oz-Net general manager, Norman Vincent.
"We are currently funded by Adelaide entrepreneur Raymond Gatt, but we are now looking to raise further funds. We would like to raise those funds in Australia, but if not, we would most likely go down the route that OzEmail has been with NASDAQ," said Vincent.
Meanwhile, technical director Earnst Van Oeveren, has indicated that Australian ISPs are likely to band together to fight off Telstra's attempt to muscle in on their business. "There has been a constant move to get a local peering arrangement happening in Sydney and Melbourne over the last year and a half. It is very difficult to organise politically, but I think it will happen over the next few months," said Van Oeveren.
