Express Data has reshuffled its pack after creating a new role to manage staff development.
Former channel marketing manager, Molly Baker, will be responsible for strengthening the distributor's focus on staff training and development in her new role as organisation learning manager. Operational health and safety, recruitment and management support also fall under her new remit.
"It's something we have looked at in the past but now we have decided to formalise the position," Express Data managing director, Ross Cochrane, said.
"If you look at an organisation just like any other organism, it needs to continually develop and grow. Failure to improve and become stronger leaves it less able to cope with the pressures of the marketplace."
Donna Adam, previously manager of the distributor's software division, takes up channel marketing duties. The software business will now be headed by Shannon Muller, who was in charge of its fledgling annuity team. This team will continue to report to Muller.
"We always like to give any new initiative its own focus but, now that annuity is working in its own right, we will incorporate it into the overall software business," Cochrane said.
Baker, Adam and Muller have amassed more than two decades at Express Data between them. Cochrane said it was more important than ever to keep hold of your good people in the current climate.
"Unemployment is at its lowest level for 27 years and it's not just IT - this is a broad-based problem," he said. "The investment in recruiting somebody and getting them up to speed is significant and it is an expensive process if you make a mistake."
