After failing to maintain viability in a margin-squeezed channel, Queensland reseller Logical Technologies, an NEC National Dealer of the Year winner in 1998, has been placed in voluntary administration after 14 years in the IT business.
Started by Ken O'Brien and Bill Daniels in 1986, the company originally focused on servicing computer hardware. It subsequently grew into what at its peak was a $21 million, 60-person business that supplied computer equipment and its own purpose-built systems.
However, the reseller is currently continuing to trade under the control of administrator RE Murphy and had its first creditors meeting last Monday.
No one from Logical Technologies was available for comment but an RE Murphy spokesperson said that an official plan of action would be announced in a couple of weeks.
Logical Technologies has some strong clients on its books, such as the Brisbane City Council and OzEmail, and has partnerships in place with multinational vendors such as Fujitsu and NEC, which should prove attractive to potential buyers.
Logical Technologies should not be confused with Logical Technologies Pty Ltd, whose headquarters are in Melbourne with offices in Sydney and Brisbane.
