Solutions-oriented Web site to aid resellers

Networking distributor Digital Networks Australia (DNA) has launched a new Web site as a result of feedback from its resellers calling for faster, more up-to-date information.

Munsoor Khan, DNA's sales director, said the new site was more solutions-oriented than its previous one, which had largely been an online price book. "It'll make [the resellers] dealing with DNA a lot more efficient and hopefully that means more time selling," he said.

Khan uses the example of feedback from dealers asking for tools to be able to find information about products faster. To solve this Khan said DNA had created "virtual sites" for each of its vendors, so resellers could look up information and prices about the products.

"They can go straight to where they want to go rather than drilling down through multiple pages, which is something none of us want to do," Khan said.

The new Web site also allows resellers to conduct a search based on technology rather than just a specific product.

DNA's resellers each have their own login and password, so they can access reseller pricing according to the level of accreditation they have with DNA.

"Generally, the feedback from the dealers was that they were in a hurry; they needed prices and pricing changes often," Khan said. The Web site has enabled DNA to provide up-to-date individual pricing to its resellers.

Previously it had sent out price lists to more than 2000 resellers. "From our point of view, it's good that we don't have to print three or four different price lists," Khan said.

According to Khan, the next upgrade of the Web site, expected to be completed by Q2, will also allow resellers to check if a certain product was in stock.

Khan also said it will allow a dealer looking for a product to be able to tell what DNA had on the shelf, and what was on order with the vendor.
