D-Link has inked a deal with value-added distributor, EDsys IT, in a bid to beef up its product presence and service offering in the West Australian market.
The relationship is not new - EDsys had been sub-distributing
D-Link products since 2002 via Lan 1 - but D-Link A/NZ general manager, Domenic Torre, said the vendor would now rely on EDsys to offer value-added services such as wireless site surveys to local WA resellers.
"We needed a VAD to come onboard with the advent of wireless and broadband in the WA market," he said.
While D-Link has strong broad-based distribution partnerships in WA with Tech Pacific and Synnex, the EDsys deal gives it an extra layer of service and support.
"The whole idea was to balance things out, and have more of a local touch in WA," he said.
Other EDsys services available to resellers include pre-sales support, training, fulfillment and after-sales services.
"The broad-based distributors get the product out there, and do a good job of it, but they are not technically-minded to help with the value-added services side," Torre said.
EDsys' technical know-how also meant the company could offer upgrade services - often a requirement when dealing with solutions such as ADSL, he said.
