Attachmate boosts Australian account servicing team

 • 05 October, 2004 17:08

Melbourne, 28 September 2004 – Attachmate, a software company with expertise in mainframe-connectivity, appoints Greg Jones as account manager and Simonne Pennels as account representative. Jones and Pennels boost Attachmate’s local account servicing team as demand grows for the transformation of host data into reusable services for new applications. Attachmate is seeing demand and growth for its connectivity software and consulting services in both the enterprise (mainframe) and mid-market (AS/400) space.

Boris Ivancic, director of sales for Asia Pacific who made the appointments said, “In most cases the data required for new business applications is hosted on mainframes and AS/400 systems. Service oriented applications are popular for enhancing customer service and business productivity and we’re seeing a real need for technology that provides access to host-resident business data.

“A bigger account service team is required as we expand our footprint with existing enterprise and government accounts and deepen our offering to the mid-sized market. I think Simonne and Greg are indicative of the new face of the IT industry in Australia. They are good communicators, have business acumen and strong technical know-how,” said Ivancic.

Greg Jones joins Attachmate from Software Spectrum, a business-to-business software services company, where he played a key role in identifying avenues for new business and growing existing customer relationships. Jones has more than seven years experience in senior sales and business development roles, in the IT industry.

“Attachmate is focused on continued understanding of customer environments and works closely with customers to solve business problems. I will keep customers up-to-speed with technology developments and will increase industry awareness of Attachmate’s host data connectivity solutions,” said Jones.

Simonne Pennels, appointed account representative, is responsible for introducing Attachmate’s emerging technologies to new and existing markets, as well as expanding and servicing the company’s growing customer base.

Prior to joining Attachmate, Pennels spent seven years with Computer Associates. During this time she was global sales support and reference program manager for Australia and New Zealand. She worked closely with the company’s blue chip customers including ANZ and Qantas to establish a widely recognised, local and international reference network.

Pennels said, “Attachmate has been an industry leader in the host access and information management industry for more than 22 years. I’m thrilled to be joining a well-respected company and its Asia Pacific operations are performing strongly. I intend to build on this solid performance.”
