Penzance Technologies, a Sydney-based software developer, has released what it claims is a first for the online travel industry.
Travel Windows allows users to make online travel arrangements automatically without any human assistance, according to Penzance.
Bruce Boundy, managing director of Penzance, said Travel Windows works with any customer reservation system, and is the only such application in the world with access to the international private fares database. The database consists of discounted or net fares in contrast to the more expensive published fares, he said.
"Travel Windows can dramatically reduce the cost of travel because it is the only reservation system which businesses and consumers can use to access the private fares database," Boundy said.
"It also cuts down on the time required to book travel online. Users can go online, find out about flight availability, book a flight, confirm and pay in two minutes."
Boundy said the consumer and business versions of Travel Windows would be marketed at both individuals and businesses including internet portals, travel and reservation companies, and the corporate travel sector.
He said the company is set to sign a deal with a major Australian travel outfit next week.
