Ingram sets its sites on licensing

Distribution giant Ingram Micro will next week launch what it claims to be the first fully functional exclusive software licensing website in Australia.

The password-protected site will allow resellers to become licensing partners with Ingram Micro enabling them to better manage their licensing sales and management, the company said.

As part of the Partners Licensing Group (PLG) initiative, the facility has been designed to enable registered resellers to place and track orders, access past or pending licence purchases, and to provide their customers with quotes and the estimated arrival time of any licence they order through the site.

According to Michael Shea, Ingram Micro's managing director for Australia, the site has the full support of software vendors such as Microsoft and Lotus and will be managed locally.

Capable of simultaneously handling 30,000 users, the licensing site was developed by Sydney-based Guava Interactive.

The site ( is due to go live on March 15.
