Concurrent with the launch of its local positioning system 3D-iD, wireless expert PinPoint is set to premiere its Australian opening with a showcase of its technology at Melbourne's Austin and Repatriation Medical Centre.
"In the next three weeks we are shipping the product worldwide," explained Paul Sereiko, PinPoint's vice president, marketing. "The Austin Medical Centre is one of the main reasons we will focus on Australia as it is a good example of what this technology can do."
In this particular instance the 3D-iD is responsible for tracking surgical equipment in the operating theatre and encouraging an improved workflow by ensuring that all equipment is in place prior to any surgery.
"Local positioning systems are targeted at indoor environments or contained outdoor environments and are basically designed to tell people where things are. 3D-iD locates more things, faster, with better resolution," Sereiko claimed.
Establishing a simple sales and account presence in Australia, PinPoint will rely on its channel partners for sales and support to really move the technology into the market.
"We have already selected two partners; Sanderson Computers is an expert in the health industry and was responsible for the Austin installation, and Mannesmann, which will focus on security, logistics and transport," Sereiko said.
PinPoint will orient itself around the vertical markets of health, manufacturing, distribution and security and is searching for resellers with appropriate expertise.
"We are actively recruiting resellers with experience in installing radio frequency technology in certain markets," Sereiko explained.
He said PinPoint would be heavily investing in the selection and training of its channel and "pouring a lot of money into creating a brand name and product awareness in the market." The vendor will share the fruits of this marketing ploy with resellers by passing on leads and general information from the US.
With this reassurance Sereiko is confident of generating both reseller and customer interest. "This is a great value add opportunity for the channel as resellers will be the ones who will install and manage the technology. And as we are marketing it as a platform, the channel will be able to sell their services to integrate our system with other systems such as ERP."
