After a 15-month stint at the helm of Commander Communications, Ian Tsicalas has revealed he is leaving the IT industry. He takes up a new position with NZ-based retailer, the Warehouse Group, from this week. He will be the managing director of its Australian operation, Warehouse Australia.
Tsicalas said his decision to move to a position out of IT was not a deliberate one.
Tsicalas’ tenure with Commander ended with his resignation on August 31.
He told ARN his decision to leave Commander had coincided with a “change in direction” for the business.
“The share price doubled, the business is in good shape,” he said.
Tsicalas’ replacement at the helm of Commander, Adrian Coote, came on board on September 1. He had been the managing director of RSL COM since 1996.
Commander acquired RSL COM in March of this year.
